Um … not scary at all? Which I know sounds crazy, for the type of show this is supposed to be, but it’s absolutely amazing how interesting they keep things, without having to scare the kids! Is there a ton of violence in this series? How scary is the Secrets of Sulphur Springs series? Which, currently during a pandemic, where everyone is at home going crazy, I think that reminder is totally needed. But there is one, if we spin it a bit, and that’s that the kids are working together to help another kid out, and they also have stated quite a bit that the kids should “just be kids” and get to play. Since this isn’t a movie, and it’s a mystery series, there aren’t too many “positive messages”. I’ll have to update this review once we’re done, but so far Disney Channel is doing great! Are there any positive messages in this series? ![]() So far we’ve gotten to episode 5 and there’s nothing to worry about. ![]() Surprisingly, this one is great for all kids! I keep waiting for my 8 year old to jump out of her seat, but nope! (And she’s typically scared of everything!) Are there any inappropriate scenes or components for kids? (ex: language, songs, etc.) Yes! I was a little worried that this wouldn’t be as kid-friendly as some of the other Disney Channel series, just because it looked like a creepy, Nancy Drew mystery, but it’s great for kids! Is this series best for younger kids? Older kids? Secrets of Sulphur Springs is about a 12-year-old boy (Griffin) and a thrill-seeking classmate (Harper) who discover a secret portal that allows them to travel back in time and uncover clues about a mystery involving a girl (Savannah) who disappeared decades ago from a Louisiana town. ![]() What is Secrets of Sulphur Springs about?

It is perhaps properly known as Apfelstreuselkuchen - yep, say that one three times in a row! And so, we will leave you with this fantastic quote from Saveur on the topic of streusel: “ Crumb cake is Germany’s gift to baking.” Amen, Saveur, Amen. Ideally, please enjoy a slice of this delicious apple crumb cake recipe alongside the book - and live dangerously, friends! A Very Short History of Apple Crumb Cake Recipesįortunately, this year, Banned Book Week coincided with our serendipitous discovery of Luisa Weiss’s fantastic Classic German Baking, which so clearly revealed the German origins of this recipe. So, with this in mind, give In the Night Kitchen another read. Who knew?! In belated honor of Banned Book Week (September 26 – October 2), we’d like to celebrate Mickey and his very controversial but anatomically correct nudity (yes, it pays to have a urologist in the family) with this recipe. Apple Crumble Crepe Cake Non Ice Cream Cakes, Max 2 hours in air conditioned space, Max 5 days in fridge Ice Cream Cakes, Max 1 hour in air conditioned space. Some readers hate this book because of Mickey’s frequently naked state. In fact, the “living dangerously” is in reference to the controversy surrounding In the Night Kitchen. We also always wonder how Mickey (or really, any three year old boy) survived to adulthood. We always feel very relieved when we get to the end of the book. Refrigeration does not add to the shelf life. He also wears a cake batter suit, flies a dough airplane, and falls into an enormous jug of milk. The cake remains fresh for 14 days from date of shipment when stored on the kitchen counter or in the refrigerator. As you may recall, he nearly gets baked in a cake. Now, you may be thinking that the “living dangerously” part of this recipe is in reference to Mickey’s (mis) adventures. ![]() This leaves time for the flavors to meld overnight. This is because the cake is best baked the night before you plan to eat it. We also call this cake “Mickey’s Cake,” after the mischevious hero of Maurice Sendak’s In the Night Kitchen. Want to live dangerously and bake a cake simultaneously? Well, this apple crumb cake recipe will allow you to do both. ![]() When it comes to Greek paraphernalia - You dream it, we design it. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer views the Seahawks as being “open” to acquiring another quarterback during the season. There are backup quarterbacks like Gardner Minshew or Sam Darnold who could become available prior to the trade deadline. With Jimmy Garoppolo now officially off the table, it is hard to imagine where this new quarterback would emerge. There is always the chance that the Seahawks add another wrinkle into the quarterback competition by adding a veteran during the season. Pete Carroll has had enough of Geno Smith and Drew Lock □ So, we’re fortunate to have two guys that can go.”Ĭould the Seahawks Add Another Quarterback in 2023? And I want him to be ready at moment’s call, and he’s going to keep growing and pushing and developing as a fantastic player, I think, and I have no problem playing with him, too. “In the meantime, Drew’s got to keep on battling because he can play - and he’s got all kinds of stuff in him. So you don’t have to ask about it anymore. I just want to let you know so everybody knows. Drew just ran out of time, didn’t make it his bid for it, and so I’m clear about that. He’s won the job with the time and the time frames that got messed up for us for Drew. “He’s going to start the opener, and he’s earned it. “Geno was solid in his outing, and Geno is going to start,” Carroll explained during his August 26 press conference. During an August 30 press conference, Carroll revealed that the competition is “always on” between Smith and Lock. That’s when Carroll’s reiterated obsession with protecting the football may yield to seeing whether Lock can provide what could be a much-needed spark.”Ĭarroll Left the Door Open for Lock to Win the QB Job During the SeasonĪ post shared by Seattle Seahawks of the reason for the question marks is tied to Carroll himself leaving the door open for Lock to take over as QB1. If they struggle in those two games, that’s when it could be time to break glass in event of emergency. “But if the Seahawks lose to the Broncos and the 49ers, that’s when Lockwatch begins. “Anything better than 0-2 will be a feather in Smith’s cap. “The season begins with the Broncos and Russell Wilson on a Monday night, followed six days later by a trip to San Francisco,” Florio added. ![]() Florio suggests that a slow start to the season could prompt Carroll to reconsider his decision at quarterback. What Would It Take for Lock to Become the Seahawks QB1?Ī post shared by Drew Lock would need to happen for the door to open for Lock to overtake Smith as the starter? The last memory that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has of Lock is the quarterback throwing three interceptions in the preseason finale against the Cowboys. Join the Heavy on Seahawks newsletter here! That’s not a wild guess, or a gut feeling. Although Smith held off Drew Lock, it’s got a distinct “for now” feel to it. “It’s fair to wonder when that will happen to new Seahawks starter Geno Smith. “For many quarterback competitions, the winner primarily wins the right to be the first quarterback benched,” Florio noted on August 30, 2022. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes the Seahawks will turn to Lock sooner rather than later. The Seattle Seahawks named Geno Smith as the starting quarterback but there is plenty of skepticism that the veteran will be able to hold off Drew Lock throughout the season. Countless historic places and iconic landmarks bear the Reynolds name or were named for the family - from Reynolda Road and the Reynolda House Museum of American Art to the Reynolds Building. Reynolds Tobacco Company can be felt and seen throughout the city. The city is fondly nicknamed the Camel City for the world-famous cigarette brand that started there in 1875. Interestingly, one of the key things Winston-Salem is known for is its tobacco and cigarette industry. Even before the official merging, the two towns were already referred to as Winston-Salem during the 1880s by the U.S. Modern Winston-Salem was created in 1913 when the two towns, which were only a mile apart, were combined. Initially simply called “the county town” or Salem, it was bestowed the name Winston in 1851, after the Revolutionary War hero, Joseph Winston. Meanwhile, colonial Winston was land sold to the then-newly formed Forsyth County. The hotdog sucked and this was from a hot dog place. The chili and bread was good but the hotdog was not good, very rubbery which you can see in the picture. It took about 10 minutes to get the food, while waiting there was a man that came in that had a strong odor of alcohol radiating from his person. They had their menu in a 3 ring binder and I ordered a footlong hotdog with muatard, ketchup, chili, cheese and onions along with crinkle fries with a seasoning on them and a pepsi out of the fountain. There was barely any room in there, to my right there was a fountain machine and the counter was right inside the door. Imagine the wedding priest from Princess Bride meets the Bride of Frankenstein meets Frau Blücher. Pekar, a freeFall alum, morphs from housemaid to lovely young ingenue, to a cockney boy, to an old German crone – Inga, my personal favorite, made me laugh out loud. What can I possibly say about the supporting ensemble of Kelly Pekar, James Putnam and Robert Teasdale? The rapid-fire ease with which they changed characters – a LOT of characters – was almost as impressive as their precise comic timing and the world (literally), of accents they mastered. The natural tempo and timing between Davis and McGee is born out of decades of working together, and the audience is the beneficiary. McGee narrates while performing and can still crack you up with just a look or motion, and with subtlety here. Yet McGee’s Watson is understated, mostly doing case recon for Holmes, allowing the ensemble to shine and deliver a good portion of the laughs. ![]() Watson – could you think of anyone else you’d want to play this role? No. Also, he looks great in a deerstalker cap. Bottom line – Davis is loud, overly dramatic (by design and in the best possible way), and he delivers – as always. Did Father demand too much? A new mystery to be solved – another time. It makes you wonder what kind of childhood Holmes must have had. He’s unintentionally funny – and has flashes of insecurity and self-recrimination at any mistake, no matter how small. Davis’s Holmes has all the hyberbolic brilliance you’ve come to expect, not just from Doyle’s perspective, but from a Ludwig character. Playwright, Ken Ludwig loves adapting classics like The Three Musketeers, Murder on the Orient Express, and of course, Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles. Can they do it in two hours? Call me an optimist. Are hounds into all that material stuff? The crime-solving game is afoot, and Holmes and Watson have about 40 potential suspects to investigate. She indeed completely skipped eighth grade and all associated curriculum,” Kochensparger said. “I know of one student who failed the seventh grade and then had to repeat the year with the agreement with (an administrator) that she would be promoted to the ninth grade if she passed seventh grade during the second attempt. When she told an administrator that it was not permitted and she would inquire of the Department of Education, she was forbidden from contacting the state. Kochensparger said she was asked to make sure students completed all questions on the exam before allowing them to be turned in. Other allegations involved state standardized testing and social promotion. “As a teacher and parent, when I questioned further, I was told that I ask too many questions and the situation was being handled." “The school told parents the suspensions were handed out because the kids were outside of their assigned areas,” with no mention of the sexual activity, she said. The incident occurred at a school festival and was caught on surveillance cameras. Kellie Kochensparger, who taught at the school for three years before leaving last year, said one of the disturbing incidents she witnessed involved students suspended for having oral sex while other students watched. “We hear you, and we will move forward with making sure this is investigated.” “Your concerns have not fallen on deaf ears,” promised board President Debe Terhar of Cincinnati. ![]() Another teacher said she filed an anonymous complaint with the agency. Currently, many people obtain CBD online without a medical marijuana license, which is legal in most states. In essence, this means that CBD is legal if it comes from hemp, but not if it comes from cannabis (marijuana) – even though it is the exact same molecule. The Farm Bill removed all hemp-derived products, including CBD, from the Controlled Substances Act, which criminalizes the possession of drugs. In 2018, the Farm Bill made hemp legal in the United States, making it virtually impossible to keep CBD illegal – that would be like making oranges legal, but keeping orange juice illegal. In December 2015, the FDA eased the regulatory requirements to allow researchers to conduct CBD trials. All 50 states have laws legalizing CBD with varying degrees of restriction.
